Have you ever heard of God?
Have you ever heard of God?
The reasons why many reject God.
I have a question for you, the person reading these words: Have you ever heard of God?
No doubt the answer that has come to your mind is yes.
So I ask you the second question: Why didn't you find him interesting enough to take a closer look at him and study him a little? Why didn't you consider that God could possibly have something to contribute to your life, to your happiness? Why did you let Him pass you by, to the point of forgetting that He exists?
I know you are asking me: is there a God?
Without knowing it, by asking this you have already approached Him.
Approaching God is like approaching a work of art in a museum or a hundred-year-old tree in a field and spending a few moments admiring and analyzing its colors, structure, and the energy it radiates, sensing its essence, its life, especially in the case of the tree, which is a wonderful being of creation.
Don't think that I am writing these words because I have been close to God forever or have Him in my heart, oh no! I had also let Him go, not completely, but as good as, and had sought to fulfill my desires in the outer life, in everything that life offers here, one can say as anyone would do, until a few years ago I asked myself intuitively the question: what else am I missing? I seemed to have everything my heart desired: health, family, money, work. But the question came out of my soul all by itself: what am I missing? The answer came immediately: I lack, we lack, spirituality. Now I know that I was missing God, of that I am utterly certain. The apparent abundance in my life was not able to nourish my spirit, and how could it be otherwise; who or what was the piece that was missing to offer me a meaningful life? Well, piece is not the right word, because God is everything!
So, now back to you, dear brother or sister.
There are so many things you are interested in every day, and some of them are part of your daily routine, your tastes and preferences, your favorite topics. You even consider some things to be indispensable, things you wouldn't want to give up for anything in the world. Have you ever wondered why they are an essential part of your life? Most of the time it is simply because they have been there since you were a little kid. Oh, is that so? Did God not come into your life when you were not yet 10 years old? Perhaps you were even baptized in the Christian faith. Why have you never given God a chance to become a desirable routine, a favorite thing in your life? What was wrong with it?
You probably don't know how to answer, but I'll answer for you: you forgot about Him because God is extremely discreet and silent; He respects your freedom and does not impose Himself; that is why so many people let Him pass by in their lives, while the world makes a lot of noise and has a lot of airs and graces to get your attention. The world is ambitious, we humans are ambitious, we want to stand out, to take advantage of others and benefit from them. We invented propaganda, marketing and the media to tell others what we think is important, what is relevant to their lives and what they should pay attention to. We are bullies and tear-downers and call that achieving our goals, fulfilling our dreams! In the midst of all this intense, selfish action, you stand, perhaps passively – or perhaps actively, to make a mark, who knows. If you are not ambitious, you are a plain failure. Everything is done for profit, to gain customers, subscribers or followers. And it doesn't matter if we are dishonest or disrespectful, anything is allowed to make them listen to us and make us indispensable in their lives.
But God is not like that; God is patient, He is eternal and waits for you to come to Him of your own free will. Can you imagine God behaving as ridiculously as an influencer or as a salesman offering his products? I can't. That's why you haven't integrated God into your life, as you have done with so many things that are of no real use to you and have been subtly imposed on you by the propaganda of the world around you, which tells you what is important to you. But you also helped to forget God and embrace the world, even if you want to blame the priests or the church. In reality, it was a personal and free decision in which you chose the things you thought would benefit you, a good or a profit. Unconsciously, you thought: What do I get out of believing in God if I don't even know if He really exists?
You didn't know that you were already treading on ground that had long been prepared so that no trace of God could be found on it. There is a conspiracy against God, and it is called science, although it should really be called vanity and pride, a very foolish and typically human pride. We are experts at harming ourselves, doing things and persisting in habits that only cause us problems. Much of this bad behavior is actively promoted by our propaganda. And it is difficult to completely escape this propaganda so as not to fall into bad habits. You are a victim of blackmail and you don't even know it! Although I would say that you are more than a victim, but an accomplice. The cunning of those who pull your strings knows no bounds or scruples. But as long as it satisfies our senses, everything seems to be fine. If it tastes good, it must be good, we say. We like to live distracted from what the present has to offer. Even meditation is practiced just to relax, to relieve the daily stress of a godless and meaningless life.
Therefore, it is almost not your fault that you have forgotten God, but only almost, because with this neglect you have achieved something comfortable, perhaps not consciously, but as something automatic, and that is that life without God was apparently easier, a life without sin, without remorse, without regret, without... without God. Do you feel the loneliness and fear? How do you fight it? I'll tell you: with something called support services. Artificial intelligence is the latest in this trend towards supervised, guided living. The only question is: guided by what and by whom?
Certainly not by God, right? How do I come up with that?!
Nice and cozy, cared for (or comfortably numb).
Why do we like to be cared for? Those who can afford it think of nothing but living comfortably, supported by others and technology. The reason for this desire is simply laziness. Without God, laziness is no longer a sin and is seen as enjoyment of life. To do that, others have to enjoy less... that's not new, but it's getting worse and worse. If before enjoying services was a privilege of a few, now it is only a matter of money and we all have the “right” to have assistants, preferably immigrants without documents because they are cheaper and do not rebel against grievances. The cynicism of a godless world; slaves for the useless with money.
But let no one think that the victims are those who have to work more so that others can work less; the real victims are those who are comfortably assisted. They become lazier and more selfish and are unable to solve their problems on their own. But they become a terrible burden to others, as has always been the case when a group has fallen into lavish idleness; in the end they are tyrants whose greed knows no limits. To sustain their miserable lives, they resort to all kinds of manipulations of others to ensure the continued existence of what they consider to be their sacred and inviolable rights.
All these are signs of a spiritually helpless world that is not afraid of punishment or is so deeply immersed in its spiritual misery that this fear is drowned in the indifference that results from being comfortably assisted. If you don't believe me, I suggest you listen to the song “comfortably numb” by Pink Floyd. It came to mind; maybe it will clarify your doubts about what I am telling you. The situation is serious.
We have gradually turned away from God and in doing so have made ourselves helpless. We talk about equality while creating divides everywhere in society, divides of love, forging a world of classes when we should be preaching that we are all brothers and sisters because we are all children of the same God.
But – you ask me – which God?
I'll introduce you to our new god. The god we now worship is the god of body cult. We have replaced the needs of the spirit with the needs of the health and general well-being of the body. With that we have completely forgotten who we are; we have forgotten our spiritual essence and origin. And what is left of us, a body with a dead soul, is desperately crying out for help. So much so that this world is out to help you with anything you can think of or need, and if you don't need it, they will make you with good offers convince you that their services are necessary in your life. There is nothing wrong in principle with people helping other people, but the help that has become big business, health and social services, home care, etc., aims to fill a void that we would call psychological, given the loneliness that many people suffer from, in many cases of their own accord. This void, which those who provide care services have discovered, is a consequence of self-centered lives and careers in the world that we ourselves have created by renouncing God. The phrase “May the Lord help us” or “May God help us” is a mere empty phrase without any feeling when we call the emergency services to have the help system save us or our cat.
I know you don't consider this to be a problem. That's because you still think you have everything you need and that you have all the necessary services to make your life run smoothly until… until you die, but you don't think about it. Believing in God is of no use to you and praying even less so. The only thing that serves, you think, is to have enough money to pay your subscriptions. That's all you care about.
So, let me tell you, dear brother or sister, that you don't think that a life without God is a problem because you haven't asked the right questions yet. And it is, because you live entertained and assisted. I’ll just ask you the first one: What will become of you when you die? You think: Well, I'll just disappear. And I answer you: Brother, you are confusing form with content; you are confusing the shell with the seed. That's all I'm saying, think about it.
But you lack the strength to think beyond a dark imaginary end; there is a weight, a silent desperation that you mistake for tiredness for lack of stimulants, that does not allow you to think clearly enough to recognize the nonsense of this idea of dying that you feed every day in your soul, a soul that is under the influence of the drug of your fearful self, to enjoy life when you can, because with a bit of luck you can't and existence here is hell for you, luckily, because then you might start wondering what's going on and why you're living so badly. Maybe you'll wonder if there's a better life after this one. Because tell me, if your life here were perfect, would you move a single neuron in your sleepy brain to ask for another life beyond this one, one that rocks you in a dream that you maintain with money, entertainment and drugs? Be thankful (to God) if your life has some measure of pain and lack, for only then will you ask questions and not become an unwelcome parasite. Seize the opportunity, now that you have felt a twinge in your heart, to wonder if there is something beyond your earthly existence in this body that is aging faster and faster.
And now you are wondering who creates and controls this beyond and what your situation would be there. When you get to these questions, you may have lit a spark of your consciousness, which is your mind, that has been waiting for you to be desperate enough, consciously desperate enough to ask about God.
And I take advantage of your good disposition and ask you again: Have you ever heard of God? Knowing that your answer is yes, I ask you now: Do you think you can give yourself the opportunity to get to know Him better? You ask me: How can I get to know Him better? What if I told you that it's easier than you think because you have God inside of you? Inside of me? Yes! Or do you believe that you are the fruit of chance or the blind forces of a cold and doomed cosmos? Not at all! You and I are children of love and this love is a part of us, like a spiritual force in our souls. If we were only flesh and blood with a brain, do you think we would be able to love? If you want to get closer to God, you have already taken a big step by reflecting on the love within you, because God is above all love.
And may He bless you to find Him in you soon.
