The spiritual vision.
The spiritual vision.
Of the light of the world and the light of the spirit.
Dear reader, for this profound reflection, you need to understand two important things correctly, because you will soon no longer see things under the light of day with the same eyes:
1. Love is everything; wherever and whomever you give your love, that is where you will find your life, but it can be a true or a false life. The true life will support and nourish you and give you strength for your development. The source of His love for you will be inexhaustible. The false life, however, will let you down, disappoint you and plunge you into sadness and despair. You will feel betrayed and abandoned. This must be so that you seek the true life. Where true life is to be found and what it means, we will try to see.
2. And since we are talking about seeing, and seeing depends on light, it should be said that there is a natural light that stimulates the eyes and a spiritual light that vivifies our hearts. The natural light comes from outside, from the world; the spiritual light comes from within, and is the truth of life through the word of God that only speaks of love, that love that never exhausts itself. The inner light comes only from this love and has nothing to do with the natural light and with the things that it shows you through your eyes.
So you have noticed that you can either look outwards or inwards, and see natural material objects or spiritual objects there. Spiritually seeing is sensing and feeling.
What can we conclude from this? We are beings of light, who need light to live and thrive, because we emerged from the original light, which is God, and return to him when we die, at least those who want to return home. In this home the light is spiritual and vibrates on a higher frequency, beyond the bodily senses. In the meantime, we live here on Earth under a different light, a light we call natural, which comes from the sun and the stars.
The only thing that unites both types of light is that they come from the grace of God for our blessing. However, everything that is under natural light has a catch and serves a spiritual test.
The soul in this world has come here to pass a challenge of freedom by choosing between natural and spiritual light in a life bound to time. It can therefore choose the outward or the inward way for itself, and give recognition to one or the other way and to what it finds on it. Its whole life depends on its choice. With life, we are talking about the life of the soul, not the body, which must die in any case.
What is all this about? In the following, we will try to understand this, to shed light on it, in order to make our choice of light with a little more knowledge and wisdom. Because this meditation is about what is true and false, under what kind of light, and it is about the love that produces attraction in the soul for what it considers true and trustworthy.
The more I believe, therefore, in the natural light of the world as illumination of the true, that is to say, what I recognize as true through natural light as a source that places before my eyes the reality of material objects, in shapes and colors (objects), the more I distance myself from myself, from my inner being, and I lock this, my inner being, away from myself. Thus, by accrediting reality under natural light, including my physical self as what defines me, I cut myself off from my real being, which is the spiritual being that participates in the spirit of God.
My soul is here in search of itself, of its true self. It wonders: where do I come from, what am I doing here and where will I go after death? For this purpose, God has given us two kinds of light, the outer and the inner. The soul searches for itself in everything it sees; it seeks confirmation that it exists by belonging. It says to itself: I see that and I like it; that's where I belong, because it resembles me, it is my world and I am a part of it. We can call that family, society or culture. All this is outside and is absorbed under the natural light from the soul, which causes a movement, an inclination in the soul. It wants to go there, live there and stay there. Natural light allows us to see, recognize and fall in love with things and people. Without the natural light it would be impossible for us to live, lost and blind in the dark. So far, so good.
Everything in life has its consequences, and we should also understand this well here. To give my faith (trust) to the natural light and the objects it presents to me as something true and constant that causes affection in me, is to give these objects, be they things or people, my love and my love is what I draw my life from, because love is life. If you ask yourself, “What is life?” you will come to the conclusion after some thought that love is everywhere where there is life, and that what lives, lives because it is loved, otherwise it would wither away like a plant without light and water.
Faith, trust, leads to love and this constitutes the attraction to what one loves, because one considers it to be the truth, because it has presented itself to the senses, through seeing and hearing, as something good and trustworthy, thus causing attachment and union, and then also a leaning on and feeding on it, because love expects such things, i.e. peace and satisfaction from the beloved, and thus satisfaction of the soul, which no longer perceives itself as a spiritual being, but as something purely external, a part of the material body and a part of the world (culture, group) and only through the senses and customs seeks its own recognition from the outside to find itself, to satisfy itself and thus to confirm itself as something that is and that belongs to something greater, from which it draws satisfaction. All this is what love does as a force of attraction.
However, to only recognize the material reality as true, that is, to believe in nothing spiritual, in nothing that stands behind matter, is to cling to the material world of time and space (through the attraction of love), time and space that are constantly changing, and thus also change the things in them, dissolve in their consistency, in their form, which was recognized, known and loved through natural light, which for the eye, and therefore for the soul, means death, because it loses a specific thing (object or person) that it loved because it believed in it, and it loses it because it can no longer see it, which becomes a trap for the soul when it completely closes itself off from the spirit as a constant being behind everything that is naturally visible.
Because the soul has chosen the path to the outside world, projecting itself into the world in search of confirmation of its own identity, is why it does not believe in the spiritual reality as the cause of the material world, nor in God as the First, but only in the outer form which it has recognized and loved thanks to natural light. This leads us to the well known idolatry. Idols are objects, under natural light, we adore and love. As idols are made of matter, as temporary forms they must eventually fail. And here we are now facing the consequences, and these are nothing more than death, which pounces on the soul and covers it with its shadow as something true, because what was loved has disappeared from view in natural light.
But it is a trick, a deception that takes place under natural light.
You could say that, thanks to a simple magic trick involving the disappearance of a loved one, death itself becomes a sad object of our faith. The audience, unaware of the mechanism behind the trick, applauds and elevates it to the truth. Thus, triumphant, death becomes a reality. Death exploits the ignorance of those who have followed the outer path of natural light and never explored the spiritual path that leads inward, where we are immortal spirit.
So my own love from the belief from the outer natural view leads me into death, simply because I am attached to the things of time and space. They drag me, through my infatuation with them, into the night of death in a terrible way when they disappear. However, no one and nothing other than my own affection is to blame for the false love from the false belief from the external natural view in the natural light. Hopefully we have understood that.
But now you might ask yourself: How can I put an end to this drama of life in which death has the last word; how can I defeat death, uncover its very convincing magic trick so as to never again fall for the deception and be overcome by pain and sadness?
The answer is as simple as a 180 degree turn. If I understand that from the outside, from the world in natural light, I only get death, because everything is transitory, but I don't want to fall into a stupid hedonism (so giving the world even more love for nothing) or into an even more stupid stoicism (not loving anyone, not even myself), because I have realized that love is life, then I will automatically look elsewhere for this love. But it is not behind me, or above me, it is within me.
If love attracts the same to me, then there must be something within me that I can feel attracted to, something beautiful that I want to be like, that I want to belong to and that I want to obey, that is, its rules and laws, because I want to draw my life from it. In fact, there is something like that inside me, and it is called God. As the Bible says: He created man in his own image (M.1.27). And God cannot be seen in natural light, but he can be seen in spiritual light. How does that work?
I have to turn from the outside in, that is, close my eyes and open myself to the light of the spirit. Ok, i know, that sounds nice, but seems to be a mystic path for the chosen only. Well, you can actually become one of the chosen, with good will and patience. Remember that it is just about where you put your love into. Take your love away from the world you once adored and give it to God, inside of you!
This can be achieved by praying and meditating. Start going for the spiritual light. It just requires some perseverance and sincere effort from you, just as the world required before. In this way, meditation is free of charge. The deep meaning of all meditation is to call my spiritual being, that is, God, into life and to let Him govern my being, to put myself under the guidance of God, just as I had previously put myself under the guidance of the world. I do this because I want to receive life from the love of God. So I should place my trust in Him. Fortunately, I have long since been disappointed by the world. But how can I see Him?
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to see the spiritual reality, i.e. the world of the spirits, as the people of the ancient past from the time of Adam to the time of Noah did, because humanity has turned its back to heaven and God and, with a few exceptions, turned a blind eye to the spirits that could teach us about God, we need another tool to encounter spiritual reality. We need to see the spiritual objects in the light of a heaven that is not the natural, external sky, but the spiritual and inner heaven that some call expanded consciousness.
The Father in heaven has now given us His Word, in which the Spirit of Jesus Christ lives, the spiritual Jesus, who remained with us in the Word after the ascension of the historical Jesus, in whom God became man.
Christ said to the people: “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all the rest shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). By this he meant seek the spiritual light within you, for he also said that his kingdom is not of this world. It cannot be said more clearly.
The word should bring light to the soul; it should illuminate the true life in us. But for that we must turn inward again and go deep into the word in our spirit, feel it, feel the love, not read the letter in the natural light (!) and recognize it as truth and love it, but use it for our outer being to receive recognition through the truth, because that has only led to divisions in the church. True life should connect us, not separate us, as everything happens in the natural light, because everyone fears death.
The word of God is a word of life that never ceases. And that is precisely what should unite us in peace and trust. This connection or union in the truth is based on the truth of God as the First and as the source of life that infinitely nourishes and supports each of us. The Word, in its deep sense of love, is the spiritual light by which the soul is able to recognize spiritual truth, to see it in itself, thus giving it its faith and then its love, which then fortunately binds it to the Spirit of Christ, who, as a model in it, forms the luminous center of love, and thus to the Eternal, to the Source of God, which will be its own eternal life, in which it will pass on the love it draws from God within it to its neighbor, for the benefit of heaven, where all light is only spiritual and flows from the love of God.
Amen.
