Christ the King.
Christ the King.
2025 years ago, in a small town in Bethlehem, Jesus of Nazareth was born, the Christ, the chosen one, the son of God on earth, who would save our souls, without distinction of class, faith or skin color color, only through the love and faith that each of us was willing to place in his person and his words of redemption through forgiveness, in order to obtain eternal life in his kingdom, in what is called the hereafter.
So far, so good, but this story needs a reminder, because our love is weak and too easily turns to what shines in the fleeting light of matter.
This unfaithful love highlighted visitors from the East who came to His birthplace to honor and admire Him with symbolic gifts of incense, gold and myrrh. Incense represents the purification of the soul, gold is a symbol of kingship and power, and myrrh symbolizes the healing power of Christ.
But what would happen if the three wise men from Central Asia, because they were Magi by profession and not kings, saw that they had become the main characters of the day when Jesus Christ was born, who is celebrated on January 6?
No doubt, these Magi from the East would be outraged and would tell us firmly that we are making a serious mistake by celebrating their arrival, which is insignificant compared to the arrival of the Savior of all humanity on Earth in particular and in the whole universe in general.
What are you doing? they would say to us, with their hands on their heads: “Have you fools completely lost your minds! Neither we, nor the shepherds, nor the thousands of angels who came to Bethlehem for the birth of God, and whom you cannot see with your blind hearts, play any role in this scene of glory and honor for humanity. And what is this about giving gifts to each other; some at Christmas, others on the day you call Three Kings? The only king here is Christ, who is the light of divine love that came to earth to redeem you from your spiritual night.
But we see that you have plunged even deeper into your darkness and that your souls are still blinded by a misguided love. May the Lord's mercy be with you, you poor devils who, full of illusions, await our coming instead of focusing on the One who came to bring you the gift of life! Year after year with the same foolishness; year after year you ignore the One who loves you boundlessly and from whose fountain of life you drink every second of your miserable existence with your eyes closed!
Yes, you placed Him in the stable with His earthly parents, Mary and Joseph, but you made them mere decorative objects, even though that Holy Family was the center of the rebirth of life for all humanity, without exception! But you, who are so ignorant, in your eagerness to please yourselves with material goods, have hijacked the hopeful hearts of your children by turning their attention to us, who are nobody! Shame upon shame, sorrow without end, is what we feel, and we ask you to reflect, to end this nonsense once and for all and to celebrate the life that Christ has given you, and to offer Him sacrifices of love and obedience in your black and greedy hearts. And not one of you can plead ignorance; not one of you can excuse himself for not knowing Christ and the mission that brought him to this hell of erring souls. You all know or have heard and read about Him.
So tell us: what has happened to you; what is the reason for you being so dull, worshipping the shell and despising the content? We will tell you: your weaknesses, your weak love that lets itself be seduced by the glitter of gold! For us, gold has no material value. It is a symbol of the power of the spirit, the power to persevere, to be immutable. But you are anything but immutable; you are anything but gold. But do not think of yourselves, you adults; think of your children and where you are leading them, you unfortunates!
The Lord's patience with you earthlings is infinite. You have abandoned the light of Christ, which the love of God for your miserable lives would reveal to you. His mercy is infinite, allowing you, year after year, to trample on and dishonor His greatest work, namely, becoming man for the remission of your sins. God descended from heaven and you repay Him by worshiping fantasy figures at Christmas and us, who were three souls in search of the truth, not fully aware of who was standing before us, surrounded by His angels. The entire universe resonated with love for the incomparable act of sacrifice and humility that took place on your sad planet; the whole universe, material and spiritual, held its Atem, as Christ was born and breathed his first breath into your world. Millions of spirits prayed on the night of His birth on Earth; they prayed for you!
And only you, ungrateful beings, are able to ruin something so great and immense that has been done for your lives!
We beg you, stop venerating us, for we are no one. Celebrate the only King who ever walked the earth, Christ, the Light of divine Love, who stretched out his hand to you and gave you his Life to save yours. Amen.
